According to the Public Relations and Media Affairs of Tehran University’s Cultural Spaces and Museums Department, the precious collection of “Mr. Keramatallah Nayyer’s Lock and Key Collection” was donated to the Negarestan Museum Garden during a ceremony on Wednesday, 17 May 2023.

The ceremony took place in the presence of: Dr. Naser Gholami(Managing Director of the Supporter Foundation of the University of Tehran), Mohamadreza Taghidokht(Public Relations Manager & International Affairs of the University of Tehran’s College of Engineering), Mr. Keramatallah Nayyer(Donner of the Lock and Key Collection), Seyed Alireza Kia( Manager of the National Art Museum), Mohammadreza Akhzariyan Kashani (General Manager of the Social and Cultural Affairs of Tehran University), Majid Montazer Zohuri( Head of the Cultural Spaces and Museums Department of Tehran University) and the other interested people.

Mr. Keramatallah Nayyer was born in 1937 in the Zarqan District in Fars Province. He studied in the College of Engineering of the University of Tehran and graduated in 1963. Mr. Nayyer is an art collector and has always been interested in Iranian handicrafts and antique artworks. Mr. Keramatallah Nayyer had loved the lock and keys and their usage from his childhood and collected Iranian unique and antique locks and keys whether made by hand or machines over many years. He also has collected non-Iranian mechanical locks and keys including Russian very special ones.

After getting familiar with Tehran University Museums, Mr. Nayyer displayed part of his lock and key collection as a temporary exhibition in 2011 in the Moghadam House Museum. Then, sponsored by Tehran University, a precious book of the displayed artworks of the exhibition was published by Tehran University Press in 2014.

As this honorable donator trusted Tehran University, he donated his precious lock and key collection which is including more than 600 pieces of locks, keys, and ironmongery belonging from the Safavid to the current era to Tehran University.

During a ceremony on Wednesday 17 May 2023, the donation letter of Mr. Keramatallah Nayyer’s Lock and Key Collection to the Negarestan Museum Garden was signed in the presence of the donor, the managers, and the other people who had been invited to the ceremony.
