A Temporary exhibition on “The Paintings of Efatolmoluk Khajenuri and Shokatolmoluk Shaghaghi”, two artist sisters who are considered the rare female graduates of Kamalolmolk’s Fine Arts School and also pioneers in Kamalolmolk’s method of painting will hold in Negarestan Garden Museums

According to the Public Relations and Media Affairs of Tehran University’s Cultural Spaces and Museums Department, on the occasion of celebrating the role of women in the field of Iranian art, a temporary exhibition on “The Paintings of Efatolmoluk Khajenuri and Shokatolmoluk Shaghaghi” will hold on February 18, 2023, in Negarestan Garden Museum.

It should be noted, the temporary exhibition will last until 12 March and interested people can visit it, from 9.00 to 17.00, every day of the week except Monday and days of mourning.

Efatolmoluk Khajenuri and Shokatolmoluk Shaghaghi were two daughters of Nazmoldoleh, an official during the Qajar period. They consider among the woman who gradually learned, developed and got famous in the field of painting. Their father had a friendship with Kamalolmolk, the manager of the first modern art school in Iran. So Efatolmoluk Khajenuri and Shokatolmoluk had this chance to learn oil painting and vitreous enamel (Minakari). They learned painting from Kamalolmolk once a month in their paternal house.

They were included among the distinguished students of Kamalolmolk and considered conversant and intellectual women in their time. Many artworks including watercolor and oil color paintings and also needlework with silk white thread (Khameduzi) has remained from them in the museums and private collections.

Seven excellent artworks of these two artists that are kept in Negarestan Garden Museum will be shown in this temporary exhibition.
